BC Voices, Movement Voter Project and New Yorkers for Equal Rights held a screening at TALEA Beer in Cobble Hill on July 23 for the award winning, powerful documentary Stand UP, Speak OUT: Reproductive Rights – Know Your Rights, which tells the story of American women’s 200+ years and ongoing fight for reproductive freedom, from the early struggles of enslaved women and Indigenous communities to landmark court decisions like Roe v. Wade and the recent Dobbs ruling, and illuminates what’s at risk today. With the landscape of reproductive health rapidly changing, these issues are more crucial than ever. Sasha Ahuja, National Director for Strategic Partnerships at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, spoke after the film screening. She’s leading the coalition to pass the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in New York, which will ensure robust legal safeguards for reproductive rights and access to abortion.
